In this episode, Darren's Movie Challenge for Hayley the 1994 Western BAD GIRLS starring Madeleine Stowe and Drew Barrymore! They discuss both the movie that it turned out to be and the movie that it could have been if the studio hadn't got a serious attack of cold feet.
After a trip to the Old West, our hosts go a little bit further forward in time to Great Britain in 1940 for the Public Information Film FEAR AND PETER BROWN! This is new PIF territory for the podcast as it deals with psychological rather than physical threats and is fascinatingly different.

Episode 11: Three Men And A Baby/Playing With Fire

Episode 10: Synchronic

The HD Movie Podcast has reached double figures in terms of "proper" episodes! In Episode 10, Hayley Alice Roberts and Darren Gaskell mark this extremely small milestone by devoting the episode to just one movie which is particularly close to their hearts.
Available in a "virtual cinema" environment and coming to UK VOD and disc in a few short weeks, it's Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead's sci-fi mind-bender SYNCHRONIC, starring Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan as a pair of New Orleans paramedics who become entangled in an increasingly bizarre series of events involving a designer drug.
Having first seen the film in its original cut at Celluloid Screams 2019, Hayley and Darren discuss a little of the history of their various viewings of Synchronic and discuss the differences between the original version and the new cut. Hope you enjoy the episode!

Episode 9: Final Girls Berlin Film Festival (Part 2)

To close, Hayley and Darren get their shift together as they revisit 12 HOUR SHIFT (dir. Brea Grant). Have their opinions shifted on this movie? Obviously that isn't going to be revealed in this summary but you should stick around for the chat.

Rounding off this first part of two is FELLWECHSELZEIT (aka TIME OF MOULTING), a German psychological drama of the slow-burn variety. Did this provoke and disturb our presenters? You'll just have to listen if you want to find out!

Kicking off this episode is another movie challenge and it's Darren's turn to pick the movie. After the recent horror and sci-fi outings, it's time for a refreshing and somewhat trippy change as the film in question is the 1980 musical (and box-office flop) that is XANADU!
After all of that, is there time for another surreal jaunt into the world of Public Information Films? You bet there is! This time, we're in 1981. The focus is on road safety, a clown and some blatant product placement in Frank Prendergast's THE BALLOON!
